Hello beautiful people

I am Helen, and this is my clinic

I did not come to aesthetics from a beauty background. I came to it from hospital wards, emergency practice and years of looking after people on their hardest days. That training never leaves you. It is why everything at Happy Face runs like a clinic and feels like a front room.

I qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2008, taking my nursing qualification at Masters level at the University of Essex with the highest marks in my intake. In 2016 I became an Advanced Nurse Practitioner and independent prescriber, assessing, diagnosing and prescribing for patients in an emergency care setting in Colchester.

In January 2019 I completed my aesthetics training and opened Happy Face. In April 2026 the Care Quality Commission rated the clinic Good in all five domains. I am proud of that in a way that is hard to put politely. Most aesthetics clinics never register with the CQC at all.

The journey

From hospital wards to Happy Face

  • Healthcare assistant, Colchester

My nursing life began as an HCA in Colchester's hospitals, learning care from the ground up.

  • 2008: Registered General Nurse

Qualified at Masters level at the University of Essex, with the highest marks in my intake.

  • Acute care, London

Years in acute hospital medicine, where safety habits become second nature.

  • Practice Nurse

General practice taught me the long game: prevention, honesty and knowing patients as people.

  • 2016: Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Postgraduate diploma, independent prescribing rights, and a role assessing and treating patients in emergency practice in Colchester.

  • January 2019: Aesthetics training

Harley Street-standard training, then Happy Face Aesthetics opened its doors in Frinton-on-Sea.

  • April 2026: CQC rated Good

Good in all five domains: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The report is public and I will happily show you it.

What that means for you

Why consultation-first matters

Aesthetics is full of pressure: time-limited offers, packages, models wanted. You will find none of it here. Prescription-only treatments are medicine, and medicine starts with an assessment, not an offer.

So every new patient begins with a consultation. We talk, I listen, and we make a plan together. Sometimes the plan is a treatment. Sometimes it is skincare and a review in three months. Either way, you leave knowing exactly where you stand, and my clinical line is open to you after every treatment.

If you have been somewhere that made you feel like a transaction, come and feel the difference.

Best wishes, Helen x
